Just Another Story at a glance

Just Another Story is a Java Edition Minecraft server built around hardcore survival with RPG-style progression and anarchy-style freedom. Its game modes center on hardcore play, cross-play support, and an RPG flavor that lets players develop skills and traits across a lifecycle that advances with age. The server markets itself as a continuous, world-moving experience rather than a static map, with a focus on survival where your character ages, grows, and can be revived as generations pass in new seasons.

Players start life in a family with unique traits and pursue a variety of skills—from mining and farming to combat and enchanting—while navigating the tougher constraints that come with a non-vanilla, story-tacked survival. Collaboration is encouraged, as different traits and abilities create opportunities for teamwork and strategy. The lifecycle mechanic adds a narrative layer: lives end, generations rise, and the world evolves rather than resetting to a pure vanilla state.

Just Another Story caters to players who enjoy a lore-infused, permadeath-tinged experience with a willingness to engage in long-term world-building and social play. It fits those who want a hardcore challenge, value roleplay-style progression, and are open to cross-play dynamics within a single evolving server. The server supports Java Edition and a version labeled as 26.2, with compatibility for joining on older and newer clients, and it maintains an active Discord community for coordination and events.

Joining is straightforward on the Java edition: story.justanotherhardcore.net. Players can connect via its join address, which is its single copy-and-paste point for entry. For community updates, events, and chat, players refer to its website and its Discord.

In the server's own words

Just Another Story JAS is a hardcore survival server where you play a life in a world that keeps on moving. You're born into a family with unique traits to offer, you improve skills as you eventually grow old and die, and then when you're unbanned generations later the world has changed. Life Your life is limited. You can see your age change the more you play, you even age when offline. Eventually everyone will die. After enough time or people die, a new season will come as time passes, and everyone is revived ushering in a new generation. Traits and Skills In each life, you're born with unique traits that might affect your playthrough. Some are good, some are bad. Additionally you have skills to cover various aspects of Minecraft, from mining, to farming, to combat or enchanting. Everything starts off a little harder than vanilla Minecraft, and you can't be good at everything, so you'll want to work together with others. Families When you join, you're born into a family, or you start your own. You don't have to stick with them, but doing so benefits you. Track your family tree, who your parents are, or any children you have. We can't choose the family we're born into, but we can choose what we do with them.
