Players engage in joint world-building and social activities, taking on jobs, trading, and collaborating with others to develop towns and regions. The server supports both competitive and cooperative play through its varied modes, with systems that emphasize fairness, community interaction, and long-term progression.

Geographically, the server is based in the Netherlands and targets Java Edition players. It runs on Minecraft version 1.21.8 and is accessible to players on compatible clients. Its presence includes a Discord community and a Twitter feed, providing avenues for announcements, social events, and player communication via its website and its Discord.

To join, players use the standard Java Edition multiplayer workflow and connect to the server at play.minesociety.net. Beyond the game, they can engage with the community through its website and its Discord for ongoing support, events, and updates.
