Sundown SMP at a glance

Sundown SMP is a Java Edition, vanilla-oriented survival server focused on an authentic, small-community Minecraft experience. The server emphasizes a true Vanilla feel with light, carefully chosen quality-of-life additions through plugins and datapacks, and it runs on a highly optimized environment to reduce lag while supporting complex builds and farms. It stays away from command economies, teleporting systems, or heavy mods, prioritizing performance and a straightforward survival experience.

Players who join Sundown SMP engage in a 18+ community where builders, redstoners, farm engineers, and PvPers contribute to a cooperative yet mature atmosphere. The server uses proximity voice chat and a browser-based 3D map to enhance immersion, and members connect through its Discord for authentication and in-game chat linkage. The rules enforce safety and respect, with a whitelist process and a focus on maintaining a comfortable space for adults who value courtesy and responsible communication.

Sundown SMP supports Java Edition players and provides an updated experience aligned with the Chaos Cubed era, including a 26.2/26.3 update cycle as noted in the server’s own description. Regular, lightweight enhancements keep the vanilla core intact while offering convenient features that don’t dilute the core Minecraft feel. Prospective players should join its Discord to verify membership and complete the in-game/applications flow before stepping into the world. To join, use mc.sundown.social. Sundown SMP also maintains its own map viewer and in-game channels to support ongoing collaboration and community engagement.

In the server's own words

Welcome to Sundown SMP! We are an 18+ Vanilla SMP server valuing talent, creativity, community engagement, and maturity in its members.

Sundown SMP is a small, laid-back community designed for players who love the authentic Minecraft experience. Whether you're a builder, redstoner, farm engineer, or PVPer, the combination of your skills and your respect for fellow players will secure you a seat here. We prioritize the real Minecraft experience. That means no annoying command-based economies, teleporting systems, or heavy mods. We believe the diamond economy is the best economy for its simplicity and the inherent encouragement for social engagement.

Why Sundown SMP? 1. 18+ Community (NSFW IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN): We expect maturity and rely on mutual accountability. Our top priority is to maintain a safe, comfortable space for everyone. (Discrimination, hate speech, and griefing are met with zero tolerance). 2. True Vanilla Feel, Excellent Performance: We recently updated to the Minecraft 26.2 "Chaos Cubed" update! The server runs on a highly optimized, Purpur dockerized environment to ensure top-tier performance and zero lag, even with complex redstone and farms. Automatic incremental backups happen every two hours, so your builds are always safe. 3. Custom Features & Additions: While we keep the gameplay vanilla, we regularly introduce light quality-of-life additions using custom Java plugins and datapacks. Since these run on vanilla resources, the added features are very lightweight and focused on enhancing the experience while staying loyal to the vanilla experience. 4. Immersive Features: We use Simple Voice Chat for proximity chat (highly encouraged, but not forced!) and BlueMap so you can view a beautiful 3D web map of our world directly from your browser. See this by visiting our website and clicking the "Bluemap" button, or by visiting https://sundown.social/map 5. Authentication and Immersive Communication: To join the SMP, you must be in the Discord server (https://sundown.social/discord). This allows us to keep a clean record of our members while streamlining communication. The server has DiscordSRV and Interactive Chat installed, allowing the in-game chat to be more immersive and linked to the smp-in-game-chat channel. This grants non-playing members the ability to seamlessly communicate with playing members. 6. Safety: Staff enforces a strict policy forbidding misuse of communication privileges. Players who use their communication privileges to make others uncomfortable in any way will be forcefully removed from the server if it is deemed necessary. Please be respectful so we don't have to exercise these efforts often!

Sundown SMP Rules 1. Whitelist Only: You must submit an application via our Discord and in-game via the server to join. These are usually reviewed within the hour. If you're too excited to wait, DM a staff member to accelerate the process! 2. No Griefing or Unwanted PVP: PVP consent is recorded in the smp-roles channel. Unwanted PVP will result in disciplinary actions on a report-basis where consequences worsen as infractions repeat. 3. Respect the World: No seed cracking or exploiting (TNT duplication is allowed if done safely and respectfully) 4. Be Kind: All Discord TOS applies. Respect the boundaries of players at all times. Remember that we're all friends in here! 5. No cracked clients: please do not request compatibility or accommodation for cracked clients. Such requests are against voting sites' terms of service and will be ignored.
