MinecraftOnline Freedonia at a glance

MinecraftOnline Freedonia is a Java Edition SMP server that focuses on pure survival, construction, and community play. Its game modes and tags include SMP, Survival, Towny, and Vanilla, offering a large, hand-built world where players can explore, farm, build, and collaborate within a town-based framework. The server runs on a long-established world map and emphasizes a hands-on, grief-free experience with no free kits or item-spawning commands, relying on in-game effort and harvesting for progress.

Players who log in join a sprawling, 42-kilometer-diameter world that has grown through the contributions of hundreds of thousands of players. The emphasis is on cooperative building and fair play, with moderators dedicated to maintaining a zero-tolerance stance on griefing. The environment is designed for active, friendly communities who enjoy long-term world exploration and collaborative megaprojects rather than competitive or kit-based play.

Its version is 1.21.11, and it maintains a Discord community for player interaction outside of in-game activity.

Joining is simple and direct: use its join address freedonia.online. Players should ensure they are on Java Edition and the correct version to connect smoothly. While current online status and numbers fluctuate, the server presents itself as a stable, long-running home for Freedonia, inviting both new explorers and seasoned veterans to contribute to its enduring, hand-built world. Its website and its Discord provide additional ways to engage with the community.

In the server's own words

Massive, long-established world MinecraftOnline has the oldest truly public map of any SMP server. Freedonia first went live the day SMP was released, and has not been restored or regenerated since, despite being live on this public server the whole time. It has grown to over 44km in diameter, and has been explored and built in by over 300,000 unique players. Pure survival feel No free kits, moderator-given freebies, item-spawning or other cheat commands. Everything you see in Freedonia has been built by hand, from legitimately harvested materials. We're sure you'll agree, this makes the epic structures here all the more impressive. Our Owners And Players are friendly, active and highly experienced. They are happy to help, and will look after your interests in Freedonia. At MinecraftOnline, being a moderator is not a privilege or a reward - it is an important responsibility. Zero tolerance policy to griefing Rather than artificially protect structures by locking them from editing with cuboid etc, we prefer to prevent griefing outright. MinecraftOnline's zero-tolerance policy is strictly enforced, and the moderators have the tools to both detect and easily repair grief. All bans are permanent. Serious hardware This server has a state of the art AMD Epyc CPU, a monster 64GB DDR5 ECC RAM, datacentre-grade NVMe SSD drives, and is colocated in a well-connected data centre that is ideally suited to UK and European players. It has exclusive use of a 1Gbps connection, both upstream and downstream. You won't find a less laggy server in the EU. Friendly community MinecraftOnline was the first SMP server to have a game-linked Discord channel. It has developed a wonderfully social, witty and welcoming community, which is active 24 hours a day. Many regulars connect to the Discord just to chat with those in-game, and occasionally players join the game just to chat on Discord
